Kick-Off Meeting of the Project WANDA (Waste Management for Navigation on the Danube) was held on 25th and 26th of August 2009, in Vienna. The meeting took place in of via donau offices, the company which is a lead partner on the project. More than 20 representatives from organizations from seven countries, which are partners on the project WANDA, participated at the meeting (Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Romania, and Bulgaria). On the first day of the meeting, all partners on the project presented their organizations. After that, leaders of all six work packages elaborated detail work plans. Final drafts of Description of Work and Communication Plan have been agreed on, and they will be adopted on the first Board of Directors meeting which will be held in October 2009. Furthermore, the visual identity of the project has been discussed, as well as the Communication Plan.

On the second day of the meeting the future obligations of the partners on the project were discussed, in accordance with the rules and guidelines or SEE Transnational Cooperation Programme. After that, two workshops on work packages 3 and 4 were held. At the end of the meeting, the next steps for work on the project until the end of the first reporting period were agreed, as well as the dates for next meetings.

Project WANDA is among 42 projects which were selected and are to be financed from SEE Transnational Cooperation Programme. It is a three years project which will last from 2009 to 2012. The Directorate for Inland Waterways Plovput is a 10% partner on the project WANDA. For more information on the SEE Rpogramme, as well as for the WANDA project, check the web site of SEE Programme.
